Il lavoro agile. Evoluzione normativa ed esperienze nella Regione Veneto

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic led to an unprecedented use of Work from Home (WFH) in the Italian public administration. Yet, little scientific evidence exists on how sub-national administrations in Italy tackled this challenge and with which results. The present article intends to contribute to fill this gap in the knowledge. It does so by focusing on WFH during the pandemic in the Veneto Region of Italy and in a sample municipality in this region. Based on empirical work undertaken in 2020 and 2021, the article examines: how the WFH legislation has been implemented during the pandemic, the difficulties met, and the results achieved; the usefulness of 2014-2020 EU structural funds interventions in this sphere; and the lessons that can be learned for the future of WFH in the Italian public administration.
