Abstract
In Veneto, the 2020 regional election shows the victory of a person- the governor Luca Zaia- rather than a party: the League. In fact, his personal list surpassed the official League list of three times. However, this can be considered as an unique episode since the governor Zaia cannot run another regional competition according to the electoral rules. The longitudinal analysis suggests that a moderate conservative bloc has been always able to win in this territory by collecting the 2/3 of the votes whereas the left progressive forces have been left behind. This result was a consequence of the long period characteristics of the Veneto society which are now put under pression by modernization processes. In particular two factors seem to be crucial: the first pertains to economics with three deep economic crises in the last 20 years and whose effects are not yet overcome; the second pertains to demography with the twofold profile of massive immigration and the ageing of the population.
