Alla ricerca di radici identitarie per il Portello di Padova. Il complesso di Ognissanti, da fulcro del borgo medievale a confine esterno della cittadella universitaria

The aim of this paper is to analyse the Portello in the medieval period, which in some ways can be decisive in order to reach the root of the identity connotation assumed by the area. The objective is to show how, in the centuries before the final conquest of Padua by the Venetians, the borough had reached a stable and complete development, together with a precise connotation with respect to the Paduan urban space. A connotation which, as we will try to demonstrate, had as its fulcrum the ex-complex of Ognissanti, whose presence, today absorbed by the surrounding building fabric and by contemporaneity, is perhaps now marginal and has probably lost its historical importance and singularity in the perception of the majority of the citizens and those who experience the neighbouring University area.
